Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra's S Pen Drops Key Features

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Major S Pen Changes Leaked Ahead of Launch

Samsung is gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated Galaxy S25 series in two weeks, with the Galaxy S25 Ultra set to be the star of the lineup. The Ultra model will feature rounded corners and, as expected, a built-in S Pen, continuing Samsung’s commitment to the stylus experience. However, a recent leak by Ishan Agarwal reveals some significant changes to the S Pen that could disappoint long-time fans.

Bluetooth Functionality Removed One of the most notable changes is the removal of Bluetooth from the S Pen. This will significantly limit its functionality, especially features like Air Actions. Air Actions, which allowed users to perform remote control functions such as taking photos with a single press, switching cameras with a double press, and changing photo modes with swipe gestures, will no longer be available. Additionally, tasks like Back, Home, Recent Apps, and Smart Select, which have been staples of the Galaxy Note series, Galaxy Z Fold models, and flagship tablets like the Tab S7 to Tab S10, will also be affected.

Design-Driven Compromise It seems that this decision was made in light of the new design of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. With its rounded corners and a slightly smaller S Pen to fit more seamlessly into the device, Samsung may have chosen to remove Bluetooth functionality in order to maintain the sleek aesthetics of the phone. While this design evolution may enhance the overall look and feel of the Ultra, it could alienate users who rely heavily on the S Pen’s remote capabilities.

The removal of Bluetooth could deter some Galaxy Ultra users from upgrading, as it takes away a key feature that many have come to rely on. Samsung likely assessed the frequency of these functionalities and decided that the trade-off was necessary for the device’s design. However, it remains to be seen whether users will accept this change, especially those who have been loyal to the S Pen’s more advanced features.

As Samsung prepares for the Galaxy S25 series launch, all eyes will be on how they address these concerns and what other innovations the device will bring to the table.
