President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned the 12th session of the 16th National Assembly, set to take place on January 13, 2025, at 5 pm at the Parliament House. This session, convened under Article 54(1) of the Constitution, marks the first National Assembly session of the new year and is expected to address several key legislative matters affecting national governance.

The government is anticipated to present various bills for legislation during the session, alongside the usual routine agenda. There are also expectations of continued government-opposition talks, particularly between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government, as part of ongoing negotiations.
However, the PTI’s negotiation process with the government has encountered difficulties, particularly concerning access to party leader Imran Khan. PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar Khan, have stressed the need for direct communication with Khan to finalize proposals, but the government’s reluctance to facilitate these meetings has caused delays and raised tensions between the parties.
