Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the introduction of Pakistan’s first-ever ‘Minority Card,’ aimed at providing financial support to economically vulnerable members of minority communities.
Speaking at a Christmas event at Lahore’s House of Prayer church, Maryam Nawaz affirmed her government’s commitment to promoting equality and inclusion. She explained that the card would offer financial aid every three months, helping minorities achieve self-sufficiency.

During her speech, she emphasized the importance of creating a supportive state that treats all citizens equally, likening it to a mother’s care. “A mother doesn’t discriminate among her children. In my heart and mind, there’s no difference based on religion. Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, and people of all faiths are my pride,” she stated.
Maryam Nawaz reiterated her commitment to the welfare and development of all Punjab residents, ensuring that every government initiative includes both minorities and majorities.
The launch of the Minority Card is a key step toward an equitable society. Focused on supporting the Christian community, she announced a 200% increase in its development budget, promising to expand it further if possible. “If it were up to me, I would raise the budget by 5000%. This is not charity, but their right,” she said.
The Chief Minister also reassured minorities of her continuous support, emphasizing that her office and home are always open to them. She called on society to respect and protect minorities, warning that any harm to them would personally affect her.
