Senior journalist Aftab Iqbal was detained at Dubai airport, though the reasons remain unclear.
His brother, Junaid Iqbal, confirmed the news on Twitter, stating that Aftab returned to the UAE from Manchester the previous night. Upon arrival at Dubai airport, he was stopped and detained without explanation. Junaid also mentioned that they have had no contact with him since the detention.

In his post, Junaid requested authorities to address the issue, ensuring Aftab’s safe exit from the airport to reunite with his family.
Aftab Iqbal, who left Pakistan last year, had been abroad since his brief arrest following the May 9 attack on the Lahore Corps Commander’s House. He clarified at the time that his departure was temporary for scheduled shows in the UAE and UK.
Known for his influential career, Aftab Iqbal is a journalist and entrepreneur who founded the Aap Media Group. He has hosted several TV programs, including Hasb-e-Haal, Khabarnaak, Khabardaar, and Khabarzar across prominent Pakistani channels.
