The protest convoy led by Bushra Bibi of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reached D-Chowk in Islamabad after traveling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where it encountered intense resistance from law enforcement. In response to escalating violence, police have resorted to heavy shelling, while PTI workers retaliated by pelting stones. Tear gas has been deployed to control the situation, but the clashes have only intensified.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the protection of the Red Zone, which includes D-Chowk, and confirmed that the police have been granted full authority to deal with the protests, aiming to avoid any fatalities. Naqvi also highlighted concerns about the safety of high-profile foreign dignitaries, including the President of Belarus, who is in Islamabad for official engagements.

The Pakistan Army, already deployed under Article 245 of the Constitution to protect key government buildings, has now taken full control of D-Chowk. Army personnel are stationed on top of containers to monitor the situation, and media teams have been evacuated from the area. Additional security forces, including Rangers and police from Rawalpindi, have been deployed to support the operation. The federal capital is on high alert, with major routes to the Red Zone blocked, shops in Aabpara Market closed due to tear gas effects, and key shopping areas sealed off.
Despite the increasing resistance, the PTI convoy continues its march toward Jinnah Avenue, with a final destination at D-Chowk. Authorities have warned of strict action against anyone who disrupts public order, and the situation remains volatile, with both protesters and security forces preparing for further confrontation.
