The federal government has declared Saturday, November 9, as a public holiday in observance of Allama Iqbal Day. A notification from the Cabinet Division confirmed the holiday.
According to the notification, as per the Cabinet Division’s circular No. 10.02/2023-Min-II, November 9, 2024, will be a public holiday nationwide to commemorate Allama Iqbal Day.

Iqbal Day is celebrated annually in Pakistan to honor the birth of Dr. Muhammad Iqbal, known as the “Poet of the East.” The day includes special prayers in mosques for the country’s prosperity and a Change of Guards ceremony at Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore to celebrate his contributions to the nation.
