[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]LAHORE: Imran Khan’s court arrest drive (Jail Bharo Tehreek), which he expects to launch from Lahore on Wednesday and then expand to other cities, has received support from PTI supporters Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi.

Following separate talks with the PTI leader on Saturday at his Zaman Khan mansion, Mr. Ahmed and Mr. Elahi both declared their support for the initiative. Sheikh Rashid, the leader of the Awami Muslim League, told the media after meeting Mr. Khan that he would be the first person to be detained if the PTI leader so desired. Nonetheless, he stated that he would formally reveal his court arrest strategy on Sunday am (today).

He stated, “The PTI chairman has requested that I return to the workers’ camp outside of his apartment late tonight and early tomorrow morning. The former interior minister declared that Mr. Khan had emerged as the nation’s voice and urged everyone to join forces with him to “rescue this country from looters and lawbreakers.”

Mr. Ahmed warned the authorities that if they prolonged the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections past 90 days, they would be prosecuted with treason under Article 6. People are starving to death, and he claimed that holding new general elections to elect a government supported by the people was the only option to support and sustain this nation.

He charged that the coalition government led by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) had stolen electricity worth Rs380 billion and was recouping the money by raising consumers’ power rates. Separately, Parvez Elahi, the leader of the PML-Q, told Mr. Khan that the PTI’s Prison Bharo Tehreek had his complete support and that the PML-N was waging a campaign against judges. Both leaders also spoke about the political climate at the moment and issues surrounding the upcoming general elections, especially PML-relationship Q’s with PTI.

According to Mr. Khan, the authorities neither recognise the Constitution nor accept court rulings. In order to avoid holding general elections, the ruling coalition, according to him, has been filing false charges against PTI members and leaders as well as using other vengeful tactics.

Six former lawmakers are prepared. The focal point of Prison Bharo Tehreek, PTI Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, announced that 200 party members, including six former MNAs and MPAs, would voluntarily surrender to detention on February 22.

He stated that all workers and leaders would hold a sit-in on The Mall in the event that the Punjab government did not detain the volunteers. The drive would expand to eight major cities by February 28 he said during a press conference at PTI’s Punjab office. He declared that “no PTI leader or employee, including Chairman Imran Khan, is exempt from inviting arrest.”
