In another alarming case of abuse, police in Lahore have charged three family members, including a couple, for allegedly physically assaulting their 13-year-old housemaid.
According to local media, two family members were arrested at Defence Police Station following a complaint from the victim’s aunt, who reported that the couple had severely beaten the young girl.

This incident underscores a disturbing pattern of abuse against housemaids in Pakistan, especially in urban areas where influential offenders often evade accountability.
Just weeks ago, a similar case emerged in Lahore’s upscale area, where an employer reportedly abused two young housemaids. Neighbors noticed one of the maids with severe injuries, prompting police intervention, which led to the employer’s arrest and medical aid for the victims. With such cases on the rise, activists are urging for stronger legal protections for domestic workers, particularly minors.
