Punjab CM Approves New Mechanism for Price Control

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired the first meeting of the new price control institution, where proposals for setting prices of wheat and other essential commodities, considering production, availability, and related issues, were discussed.

The meeting highlighted the importance of boosting local cultivation of tomatoes, onions, and other key crops in every city. Following this, CM Maryam Nawaz approved a new price control mechanism aligned with international standards.

The chief minister emphasized the need for closely monitoring market fluctuations in wheat and flour prices, ensuring decisions benefit both farmers and consumers. She also instructed that officers in the Special Monitoring Unit (SMU) be appointed strictly on merit.
