Women on Wheels: Empowering Women Through Driving Skills
In a significant initiative aligned with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for women’s empowerment, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima has launched the ‘Women on Wheels’ program at the Girls Guide House in Rawalpindi.
The program aims to equip women with essential driving skills, inviting participants to undergo training in scooter and motorcycle operation. Interested individuals can register for the training sessions by contacting the traffic police, which will take place at the institute.
The launch was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where Regional Girls Guide Commissioner Dr. Saira Mufti welcomed CTO Fatima, and girl guides presented her with a bouquet in appreciation. The initiative is expected to benefit approximately 25 girls in its initial phase.

CTO Beenish Fatima emphasized the program’s primary goal: to empower women by enabling them to drive safely and independently. She highlighted the importance of self-sufficiency for women, noting that it would alleviate transportation challenges for families, allowing them to travel to educational institutions or workplaces without hassle. Participants will also be able to obtain their driving licenses in a short period.
The initiative is not limited to young girls; it also extends to women teachers from Rawalpindi and surrounding areas interested in learning to drive cars or motorcycles. They are encouraged to contact the traffic police training institute for enrollment in the driving courses.
The Women on Wheels program represents a step forward in fostering independence and mobility among women in the region, contributing to their overall empowerment.
