Pakistan and Russia Strengthen Educational Ties with New Initiatives
On Thursday, Pakistan and Russia reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing educational collaboration, building on a positive relationship developed over the past two decades. A key agreement was reached to establish a Russian Facilitation Center in Islamabad, aimed at assisting students in securing admissions to Russian educational institutions.
This initiative was discussed during a visit by a high-level Russian delegation led by Andrey Korneev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Education, along with Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education. The delegation also included advisors from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and officials from the Russian Embassy in Pakistan.
During the meeting, Secretary of Federal Education and Professional Training (FEPT) Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani briefed the delegation on Pakistan’s educational achievements and challenges. The two sides engaged in discussions to review the full scope of bilateral educational cooperation, exploring avenues to strengthen it further. The Pakistani representatives expressed a strong desire to enhance partnerships between universities in both countries, particularly in emerging technologies.
The Russian deputy minister highlighted initiatives aimed at promoting the Russian language in Pakistan and further developing educational links. The delegation proposed organizing a Russian Educational Expo in Pakistan to foster cooperation in education and technology-driven industrial connections.
Plans for these initiatives will be finalized at the upcoming Joint Working Group Meeting scheduled for October 2024. Both nations look forward to 2025 as a year of action, emphasizing their collaborative efforts in education and cultural exchange.
