The United States is actively working to prevent Israel from escalating its response to a recent rocket attack on the Golan Heights by Hezbollah. The attack, which resulted in the death of 12 youths, has prompted high-level diplomatic efforts to avoid a broader conflict.

The US is urging Israel to avoid targeting densely populated areas like Beirut, Hezbollah’s stronghold, or critical infrastructure such as airports and bridges. Despite these diplomatic efforts, Israel has not committed to avoiding such targets, though it has expressed a desire to limit the conflict.

The US and other international actors, including France, are involved in de-escalation efforts. France, with its historical ties to Lebanon, is also playing a role in facilitating communication between Israel and Hezbollah.

The situation remains tense, with Israel’s security cabinet having authorized the prime minister and defense minister to determine the response to Hezbollah. This indicates that Israel might seek a measured response rather than a full-scale war, despite some internal political pressure for a more aggressive stance.
