On Tuesday, police in Gulbahar Colony, known as Golimar, apprehended a group of young, tech-savvy thieves specializing in a sophisticated motorcycle theft and forgery operation. Led by SSP Central Zeeshan Siddiqui, the police revealed that the gang had been operating a three-stage process to evade anti-vehicle theft measures and illegally profit.
Initially, gang members would procure legitimate documents for motorcycles. Using these genuine papers as templates, they then forged documents for stolen motorcycles, altering engine and chassis numbers to present the bikes as legally obtained and trustworthy. These modified motorcycles were subsequently advertised and sold on various online platforms, deceiving unsuspecting buyers.

SSP Siddiqui emphasized that the gang’s activities spanned multiple areas of Karachi, reflecting their widespread impact. The arrested individuals, identified as Bilawal, Shah Rukh, and Rizwan, confessed to their roles in altering and selling numerous stolen motorcycles.
During the police operation, eight stolen motorcycles and five chassis were recovered from the gang. Each member had distinct responsibilities within their criminal enterprise: Rizwan managed document forgery and online sales, Bilawal conducted the actual thefts, often targeting specific models, and Shah Rukh specialized in altering engine and chassis numbers, charging Rs. 3,000 per modification.
With the gang now in custody, formal legal proceedings have commenced against them. SSP Central highlighted that this successful operation marks a significant stride in combating motorcycle theft and fraudulent activities in Karachi.
