PTI Urges Independents To Submit Resignations, Halting Horse-Trading

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has emerged as the leading party in the aftermath of the General Elections 2024, securing nearly 100 seats in the National Assembly.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) closely follows the PTI with 75 seats in the National Assembly. As the PTI holds a significant lead, the focus now shifts to the independent candidates who secured victories with PTI backing. Both the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the PML-N are actively engaging with these independent candidates, aiming to bolster their respective numbers and potentially form the next government.

In response to the possibility of horse-trading and attempts to sway independent candidates, the PTI has taken a preemptive measure by instructing its winning candidates to submit their resignations and affidavits. This strategic move is intended to maintain the party’s influence and prevent members from switching loyalties during this critical period.

Reports indicate that over 20 members supported by Imran Khan’s PTI have been approached by the PPP and PML-N. Among them, Waseem Qadir, a PTI-backed candidate who secured victory in Lahore’s NA-121 constituency, has joined the PML-N after negotiations.

Engaging in back-door contacts, PTI Chairman Gohar Khan has directed the collection of resignations and affidavits from the party members, with Umair Niazi leading this effort. This latest initiative by the PTI aims to safeguard against potential defections and ensures the party’s stability during this crucial juncture.

As the political landscape unfolds, the PTI’s strategic move to secure resignations and affidavits from its winning candidates reflects a proactive approach to curb the influence of rival parties and maintain control over its members. The interactions and negotiations between the PTI, PPP, and PML-N with independent candidates will play a pivotal role in shaping the alliances and determining the composition of the next government in Pakistan.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
