BEIJING – On Thursday, China expressed its willingness to mediate between Pakistan and Iran following cross-border military operations against militant targets, which included an acknowledged attack by Tehran resulting in reported deaths of at least seven individuals.

Mao Ning, the spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, made this statement during a regular press conference. Given their nuclear capabilities, Pakistan and Iran face ongoing insurgencies along their sparsely populated border regions. In response to Pakistan’s announcement of conducting strikes against militant targets in Iran, Tehran summoned the Pakistani charge d’affaires. This incident led to the loss of at least seven lives.

Mao highlighted the significance of Iran and Pakistan as friendly countries with important influence, both being close partners of Beijing and members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Chinese Consul General in Karachi, Yang Yundong, further emphasized China’s eagerness to play a constructive role in resolving differences between Islamabad and Tehran. Yundong acknowledged Pakistan and Iran as major countries in the region and the Muslim world.

Despite Iran’s recent missile attack in Balochistan, Yundong expressed China’s hope for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and other non-aggressive means. China’s stance reflects its commitment to promoting stability and peaceful relations among its regional partners.
