The purpose of the visit is to convey the sympathies and condolences of the government and people of Pakistan to the royal family, the government, and the people of Kuwait following the sad demise of Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
Additionally, the caretaker prime minister has declared Monday, December 18, as a day of mourning in Pakistan, expressing fraternal solidarity with Kuwait. The national flag will be flown at half-mast throughout the country on this day.

Amir Sheikh Nawaf passed away on Saturday at the age of 86. He assumed the role of Amir in 2020 at the age of 83, making him the oldest ruler to take power in Kuwait. Despite his relatively short three-year reign, it was marked by health challenges. He was laid to rest at Sulaibikhat cemetery alongside his kin.
International dignitaries, including US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin, Jordan’s King Abdullah, and Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, were expected to pay their respects in Kuwait. Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and the president of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also expressed condolences and support for Kuwait’s new ruler, Sheikh Meshal.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
