Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that Israel is open to considering brief tactical pauses in the ongoing Gaza conflict to allow for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the safe release of hostages. However, he restated his firm opposition to a comprehensive ceasefire, despite increasing international pressure.

In a recent interview with a U.S. news channel, Netanyahu elaborated, saying, “When it comes to these tactical brief pauses – perhaps an hour here, an hour there – we’ve experienced them in the past. We will assess the situation to enable the transportation of humanitarian supplies or the liberation of individual hostages.” He underlined his skepticism regarding a broader, all-encompassing ceasefire.
Throughout the interview, Netanyahu also conveyed his conviction that Israel would need to assume security responsibilities over the Palestinian enclave for an extended and unspecified duration after the conflict’s conclusion. When asked about governance in Gaza post-conflict, he stated, “I believe that Israel will have the primary responsibility for security for an undetermined period, as we have observed the consequences when we are not in charge of security in the region.”
