Russia sent 27 tons of humanitarian aid to assist those impacted by Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. A Russian official mentioned that the aid would be transported through Egypt. “A special plane has departed from Ramenskoye airport near Moscow to El-Arish in Egypt. The Russian humanitarian aid will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent for delivery to Gaza,” stated Deputy Minister Ilya Denisov.
The previous day, U.S. President Joe Biden announced an agreement to permit humanitarian assistance into Gaza, where one million people have been displaced following extensive airstrikes by Israeli forces.

The Russian official stated that the aid includes items like wheat, sugar, rice, and pasta.
Earlier, the United Nations Security Council was unable to pass a resolution concerning the Israel-Gaza conflict, with the United States, a staunch ally of Tel Aviv, vetoing the proposal led by Brazil. This action drew criticism from the Muslim world. Washington defended its decision by claiming that the resolution failed to acknowledge Israel’s right to self-defense, although the resolution actually called for humanitarian ceasefires to provide full access for aid to Gaza.
The UNSC convened to vote on the resolution tabled by Council President Brazil, with 12 Council members supporting it, while Russia and the UK abstained. This marked the second time the UNSC failed to adopt a resolution on the Middle East situation.
Previously, the Security Council rejected a Russia-backed resolution calling for a humanitarian ceasefire.
