Deadly Earthquake In Morocco Leaves Many Casualties

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]In Rabat, Morocco, a catastrophic earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck late Friday, resulting in the destruction of structures and awakening residents throughout the High Atlas mountains. As of now, the seismic event has claimed the lives of more than 300 individuals.

The US Geological Survey reported that the quake’s epicenter was located in the High Atlas Mountains, at a depth of 18.5 kilometers. The tremors occurred at 23:11 local time, followed by a 4.9 aftershock a few minutes later.

International media outlets have indicated that the casualty count stands at approximately 300, with expectations of it rising. Most of the casualties are reported to be in remote hilly areas that are challenging for rescue teams to access.

In the old city, numerous buildings collapsed, and distressing images circulated on social media, showing a mosque minaret in ruins and people stranded on roadsides.
