[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Lahore: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has made a decision to launch an inquiry into the allegations presented by their legal counsel, Sher Afzal Khan Marwat. He claimed that there are individuals within both the party’s core committee and legal team who are jeopardizing his safety by leaking confidential party information to adversaries.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Marwat stated, “…the individuals within the Khan legal team and the PTI Core Committee who are disloyal have put my life at risk. The presence of these disloyal members within the PTI Core Committee is absolutely certain. They have shared recordings of core committee meetings with opponents and even with members of the media.”
Marwat, the PTI lawyer, expressed concerns about his safety and mentioned that he had gone into hiding. He remarked, “Surprisingly, details/recordings of the Legal team’s Zoom meetings have been shared with external parties, putting my safety and freedom in serious danger. I am currently in hiding for the first time, and there’s a chance I might be apprehended by the group pursuing me.”

“I informed individuals within the party and left voice messages about those who are chasing me. Yesterday, I went underground, and while I’m uncertain about my safety, I have identified the individuals chasing me and sent their names to a group of lawyers for potential legal action in case I go missing,” he added.
“It is becoming increasingly hard to trust individuals who are part of the party’s inner circle. If I am granted permission by the relevant party members and if I survive this situation, I will reveal the names of these disloyal members very soon.”
The party’s senior leadership acknowledged Marwat’s tweet and resolved to conduct a thorough investigation into his allegations.
The PTI spokesperson emphasized that the party is currently facing a critical phase, with the core committee diligently managing day-to-day operations according to the directives of Imran Khan.
The spokesperson reiterated that the party’s legal team consists of “competent, diligent, and loyal experts who are working to uphold justice in an environment marked by lawlessness and severe repercussions against leaders and workers, including the party’s chairman.”
The spokesperson expressed the party’s gratitude for their commitment to upholding the rule of law and seeking justice despite challenging circumstances.
Additionally, the spokesperson suggested that Advocate Marwat should address his concerns through the official channels of the party rather than resorting to social media.
The spokesperson indicated that Marwat’s statements should be viewed as his personal opinions, as the party is dedicated to conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
Given the ambitious efforts to undermine PTI’s strength, the spokesperson highlighted the potential for internal dissatisfaction, division, and conspiracy that cannot be ignored.
The spokesperson emphasized that the unity of PTI will be preserved through collective decision-making, and encouraged Marwat to collaborate with the party to substantiate his observations and perceptions.
Meanwhile, Marwat returned to X and deleted his initial statement.
“I have been advised by the party leadership to remove the post and leave the issue of compromised individuals to Chairman PTI for resolution. However, I did not name any specific individuals and therefore have no indirect responsibility for speculations.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
