This decision follows reports of many visitors from these countries overstaying their visas and engaging in unauthorized work within the UAE.
A month earlier, Nigeria had announced that its citizens under the age of 40 would not be granted tourist visas for the UAE. This was prompted by changes in the UAE’s visa regulations, which restricted tourist visas for younger Nigerians unless they were joining family members in the UAE.

It’s worth noting that this is not the first instance of African countries facing travel restrictions to Dubai. On December 29, 2021, Emirates, a prominent Dubai-based airline, prohibited passengers from eight African nations from traveling to or transiting through Dubai due to concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
