Dawn has learned that two Pakistanis who were a part of the five-person exploration crew are aboard the missing submarine. Two family members were aboard the mission, and according to a statement from the Dawood family, they have lost contact.

Shahzada Dawood set off on the expedition with his son Suleman to see the Titanic’s wreckage in the Atlantic.

The message said, “We are incredibly appreciative of the concern being expressed by our coworkers and friends and would want to beg everyone to pray for their safety while affording the family privacy at this time.

Shahzada Dawood is a trustee at the SETI Institute and is situated in the UK. He became a member of the Engro Corporation board in 2003 and is currently the vice chairman.

In a brief statement on Monday, OceanGate Expeditions stated that it was “mobilising all options” to save passengers on board the ship.

Requests for response from the US Coast Guard were not immediately returned. According to media reports, the Coast Guard has begun search and rescue efforts.

It was unclear how many persons were missing at the time.

British billionaire Hamish Harding was on board, according to his family. On Facebook, his stepson posted that Harding had “gone missing on submarine” and requested “thoughts and prayers”. Later, the stepson took down the post, citing respect for the family’s privacy.

A day earlier, Harding announced on Facebook that he will be on board the submarine. Since then, he hasn’t posted anything.

OceanGate issued a statement in which it expressed its gratitude for the numerous government organisations and deep sea firms that have helped it in its efforts to make touch with the submersible once more.

According to the company’s website, the fifth Titanic “mission” of 2023 is currently underway. It was supposed to begin last week and end on Thursday.

According to the OceanGate website, the expedition, which starts in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and costs $250,000 per person, travels around 400 miles (640 km) into the Atlantic to the debris location.
