The RDA has sealed 11 buildings during a fresh operation against illegal construction in Rawalpindi. The enforcement drive targeted buildings that violated approved construction plans and other building regulations in housing schemes.
According to an official spokesperson, the operation was carried out on the instructions of the competent authority. The campaign is part of the RDA’s ongoing efforts to stop unauthorized construction and promote planned urban development across the city.
During the latest crackdown, the enforcement team sealed eight illegally constructed residential buildings. Two commercial buildings were also sealed after officials found violations of the applicable building rules.
In addition to these properties, the RDA sealed one multi-story building. Officials said the structure did not comply with its approved building plan and had breached several relevant planning regulations.
The authority explained that the operation was conducted under the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976. Action was also taken in accordance with the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations and other planning laws that govern construction activities.
The enforcement operation was led by Deputy Director Planning Muhammad Daud. Building Inspector Shafiqur Rahman and members of the RDA Enforcement Squad also participated in the campaign.
Officials said the objective of the operation is to discourage illegal construction and encourage compliance with approved development plans. The authority believes that proper enforcement helps improve the quality of urban planning and supports organized city growth.
The RDA also stated that unauthorized construction can create serious legal and infrastructure issues. Buildings developed without approval may pose risks to residents, nearby communities, and future development projects.
The authority emphasized that all developers and property owners must obtain the necessary approvals before starting construction. Following approved building plans helps ensure safety, legal compliance, and better management of housing schemes.
According to the spokesperson, another important goal of the campaign is to protect genuine property buyers and investors. Illegal developments can result in financial losses and legal disputes for people who invest without verifying project approvals.
The RDA has advised citizens to check the legal status of housing schemes and construction projects before purchasing property. Buyers are encouraged to confirm that all required approvals have been obtained from the relevant authorities.
Officials further stated that enforcement actions will continue without discrimination. Any building found violating planning regulations may face sealing or other legal measures under the applicable laws.
The latest operation reflects the authority’s continued commitment to strengthening urban planning in Rawalpindi. By taking action against unauthorized buildings, the RDA aims to promote lawful development and maintain the integrity of approved housing schemes.
