The minister received an interim report from RRMC Chairman Ashfaq Tola that contained suggestions from the Commission. Dawn cited sources when she stated that the Tola report recommended a number of tax reforms to be included in the incoming 2023–24 budget, with a focus on bringing hidden income into the tax net.

The interim study has also suggested taxing the wealthy while providing relief to the less fortunate, with a focus on raising the proportion of direct taxes in federal taxes.
The finance minister appreciated the RRMC’s efforts in identifying problems and difficulties with the current tax system and for developing useful recommendations for reforms in the revenue policies for resource mobilisation, ease of doing business, and taxpayer facilitation to achieve sustainable economic growth, according to a formal handout distributed after the meeting.
The Commission’s ideas were discussed at the meeting, and it was decided to develop business-friendly tax reforms after consulting with all the stakeholders.
