The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rainfall across parts of the country today and urged relevant authorities to remain on alert as wet weather is expected to continue until July 13. The department warned that heavy downpours could cause water accumulation in low-lying areas and increase the risk of urban flooding.
According to the Met Office, the current temperature stands at 29°C, with humidity recorded at 77 percent and winds blowing at a speed of 13 kilometres per hour. Temperatures are expected to range between 28°C and 36°C during the day.
The PMD said moisture-laden monsoon currents are continuing to penetrate the upper parts of the country, creating favorable conditions for widespread rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. A western weather system is also expected to enter the northern regions later today, further increasing the chances of rainfall.
Officials have advised local administrations and emergency services to remain prepared for possible flooding in vulnerable urban areas. Heavy rain may also lead to temporary disruption of traffic and waterlogging in low-lying locations.
Light rainfall overnight has already provided relief from hot and humid weather in several areas, leaving skies partly cloudy with more showers expected during the next 24 hours. Residents have been advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions during heavy rainfall.
The PMD’s monthly outlook also indicates that below-normal rainfall is expected across much of Pakistan during July 2026. The largest rainfall deficits are likely over northeastern Punjab, adjoining areas of Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as southeastern parts of Sindh.
In contrast, nearly normal to slightly above-normal rainfall is forecast for the northern regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan and northeastern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Weather experts say rainfall patterns may vary across different regions as monsoon systems continue to influence the country’s weather.
Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution during periods of heavy rain and avoid unnecessary travel through flood-prone areas. The PMD said it will continue to monitor weather conditions and issue updates as required.
