10-Hour Load Shedding to Hit Several Areas on July 1

Karachi residents are set to face extended load shedding on Wednesday as K-Electric has announced a scheduled power suspension in several parts of the city to carry out maintenance work on its electricity distribution network.

According to the power utility, the maintenance work will begin at 8:00 AM and continue until 6:00 PM, meaning many consumers could remain without electricity for up to 10 hours during the hottest part of the day.

The scheduled load shedding will affect several neighborhoods, including KCHS-D, Makkah Square (Johar Road), Steelix, Gulshan-e-Zubaida, Green Park City, Northern Bypass, Shadman Town, Pakistan Bazaar, Purani Thana RMU, Quetta Town, KDA Employees Society, King Residency, Navy Merchant CHS, Usman Terrace, and Walk Way, along with other nearby localities.

The announcement comes as Karachi continues to experience extreme summer temperatures, adding to the difficulties faced by residents who depend on electricity for cooling, water supply, and other essential household activities. A prolonged load shedding schedule during the daytime is expected to cause inconvenience for thousands of families across the affected areas.

K-Electric stated that the temporary shutdown is necessary to carry out essential maintenance aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the city’s power distribution system. The utility said the work is part of its efforts to strengthen the electricity network and reduce future disruptions.

Residents living in the affected areas have been advised to plan their daily activities in advance and make necessary arrangements before the scheduled load shedding begins. K-Electric also urged consumers to cooperate during the maintenance period, assuring them that the work is intended to improve long-term service quality.

The power utility has encouraged customers to stay updated through its official communication channels for any changes to the maintenance schedule or restoration time. While the temporary outage may cause inconvenience, officials say the upgrades are expected to enhance the overall performance of the electricity network and provide more reliable power supply in the future.
