Punjab Launches Rs1.72 Trillion Honhaar Scholarship Plan

The Punjab government has proposed a massive Honhaar Scholarship Program worth Rs1.72 trillion aimed at expanding access to higher education for talented and deserving students across the province.

Under the proposal, the government has also suggested allocating Rs33.25 billion for the fiscal year 2026–27 to provide direct financial assistance to students pursuing higher education in various public and private institutions.

Officials said the initiative is designed to support bright students who face financial barriers, ensuring that education opportunities are not limited by economic constraints and that merit-based access is strengthened across Punjab.

According to details, students from major districts including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Okara, and Sahiwal are expected to benefit from the scholarship program as part of a broader provincial education uplift strategy.

The government stated that the program will focus on human resource development, improving educational standards, and strengthening merit-based financial support mechanisms for students across the province.

Authorities added that thousands of students struggling with tuition fees and related expenses are expected to benefit, allowing them to complete their higher education without financial interruption.

The scholarship initiative has been included in the provincial budget documents as one of the key welfare projects, with officials reaffirming their commitment to investing in youth education and long-term development.
