Lahore Qalandars have taken disciplinary action against their captain Shaheen Afridi, imposing a fine of Rs1 million for breaching established security protocols.
The development follows reports that surfaced a few days earlier, claiming that Shaheen Afridi and fellow player Sikandar Raza had allegedly brought several unauthorized individuals into their hotel room. The incident reportedly raised concerns among security officials responsible for ensuring player safety during the tournament.
According to details, the matter came to light when Punjab Police took notice of the situation and accused both cricketers of violating security regulations put in place for players. These protocols are typically enforced strictly, especially during high-profile events like the Pakistan Super League, where teams and players are provided with secure accommodations to avoid any risks.
Following the incident, Punjab Police formally communicated their concerns by sending a letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board as well as the league’s management. In the letter, authorities alleged that the players had allowed individuals without proper authorization to access restricted areas within the team hotel, which is considered a serious violation of security guidelines.
The police also emphasized the importance of maintaining strict discipline and adherence to security measures, urging officials to take necessary steps to prevent such breaches in the future. They highlighted that any lapse in protocol could potentially compromise not only the safety of players but also the integrity of the event.
