Pakistan Railways has announced the resumption of the Bulleh Shah Express train service between Kasur and Pakpattan. The train, which was suspended since November 15, 2011, will start operating again from May 28.
The announcement was made by Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi after a meeting at the Ministry of Railways. Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Mohammad Ahmed Khan and Minister of State Malik Rashid Ahmed Khan also attended the discussion. The meeting focused on travel issues and development concerns affecting residents of Kasur and nearby areas.
During the session, local officials requested the restoration of the 257-Up/258-Down Bulleh Shah Passenger Train. Hanif Abbasi approved the proposal, emphasizing that the service would provide affordable and reliable travel for the public. He added that resuming the train would also boost economic activity along the route.
The Bulleh Shah Express will pass through Kasur, Usmanwala, Kanganpur, Mandi Ahmed Abad, Basirpur, and Haveli Wasavewala before reaching Pakpattan. Pakistan Railways officials stated that the restored service aims to improve connectivity and make travel easier for daily commuters and long-distance passengers alike.
In addition to restarting the train, plans are underway to upgrade and beautify Kasur Railway Station. This initiative will improve passenger facilities and enhance the overall travel experience. Pakistan Railways is also providing in-principle approval for Tezgam Express to make a stop at Kot Radha Kishan. This will benefit local passengers and improve regional accessibility.
Rail experts believe that resuming the Bulleh Shah Express is a positive step for Pakistan Railways. The move highlights the government’s commitment to improving public transport infrastructure. Passengers can now look forward to safer, faster, and more convenient travel options between Kasur and Pakpattan.
