Pakistan is set to begin its annual Hajj operation with the departure of the first flight on April 18, according to sources from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. The launch of this flight will formally mark the start of the country’s large-scale arrangements for pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
Under the government’s Hajj scheme, approximately 119,000 Pakistani pilgrims are expected to travel to Saudi Arabia this year. To manage this significant movement, authorities have planned a total of 468 flights throughout the operation. These flights will transport intending pilgrims in phases, ensuring smooth and organized travel during the pilgrimage season.
On the opening day of the operation, four flights will take off from major cities including Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot, and Multan. These initial flights will carry pilgrims to Medina, where many will begin their spiritual journey before proceeding to Mecca for the main Hajj rituals.
Officials have stated that all selected pilgrims will receive detailed information about their specific flight schedules in the coming week. This will allow them to make necessary preparations in advance of their departure. The government-managed scheme is designed to facilitate travel, accommodation, and logistical arrangements for Pakistani pilgrims in both Medina and Mecca, ensuring a structured and coordinated pilgrimage process.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to providing maximum support and organization so that pilgrims can perform their religious obligations with ease and peace of mind during the Hajj season.
