Sehri Diet Tips for Diabetic Patients in Ramadan

A medical specialist addressed concerns for people with diabetes during Shan-e-Ramadan, sharing guidance on a healthy sehri routine. The expert recommended eating a combination of wheat with a small portion of barley at sehri, along with a sufficient serving of protein. Foods such as eggs or chicken were suggested to help meet daily protein needs. Adding healthy fats to the meal was also considered important, while adequate water intake was strongly encouraged to stay hydrated during fasting hours.

Diabetic individuals were advised to stay away from fried, oily, and overly spicy dishes at sehri. Sugary foods were strictly discouraged due to their impact on blood glucose levels. As a healthier substitute, the expert suggested using ground stevia leaves to naturally sweeten beverages instead of sugar.

Emphasis was also placed on consistent blood sugar monitoring throughout Ramadan. Patients were encouraged to check their glucose levels after sehri, before iftar, and again after breaking the fast. Regular monitoring, the expert noted, can help diabetics maintain stable sugar levels and protect their health while observing the fast.
