The federal government has revised the eligibility criteria for the Prime Minister’s Youth Free Laptop Scheme, aiming to make it more inclusive, merit-based, and transparent.
Under the updated rules, applicants must be enrolled in a recognized public or private university or college. The scheme now extends to students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programs, widening its reach to a broader group of learners.
Selection will depend on academic performance, verified domicile, and other established criteria, ensuring a fair and transparent process. Government officials emphasized that these changes are intended to allow more students to benefit from the scheme while maintaining accountability and meritocracy. The initiative seeks to promote equal access to digital education and modern technology nationwide.
Application Process:
Eligible students must first register through their respective universities or colleges. Applications are then submitted via the official scheme website, along with accurate academic records and identity documents. After reviewing submissions, a merit list will be published, and laptops will be distributed according to the rankings.
The revamped eligibility criteria aim to empower students with the digital tools necessary to support their education and academic growth, ensuring that modern technology reaches deserving young learners across Pakistan.
