The Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has completed arrangements to launch an electronic answer sheet (E-Sheet) system for Class 9 and 10 annual examinations, starting with Computer Science papers.
Under this updated system, students’ answer scripts will be scanned and uploaded to a digital platform for assessment. Examiners will evaluate the papers online from their homes, a move aimed at speeding up the marking process and enhancing transparency within the examination system.
One Examiner for Each Question
Sources revealed that each examiner will be responsible for marking only a single question instead of the entire paper. For instance, if an exam consists of five questions, five separate examiners will assess them individually. Authorities believe this approach will minimize checking mistakes and help prevent favoritism or bias in marking.
Organized Answer Format Mandatory
To facilitate smooth scanning and accurate online evaluation, students must write their responses strictly under the designated question numbers on the E-Sheet. Proper structure and adherence to instructions will be essential to avoid complications during the digital checking process.
Greater Transparency and Digital Record
According to the board secretary, the introduction of the E-Sheet system is expected to enhance marking standards and ensure fair results. As all records will be securely stored online, the number of complaints regarding paper rechecking and result discrepancies is likely to decline significantly.
