A 22-year-old medical student lost her life on Tuesday after falling from the rooftop of a college building in Lahore, in what police have termed a suspicious incident currently under investigation.
The student, identified as Fareeha, reportedly fell from the third floor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University in the afternoon. Rescue teams rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she later succumbed to severe head injuries, according to hospital officials.
Rescue 1122 personnel stated that emergency responders arrived at the campus shortly after receiving the call and shifted the injured student for urgent medical care. She was a final-year MBBS student and resided in the university hostel, police confirmed.
Authorities are examining all possible aspects of the case to determine whether the fall was accidental, a suicide attempt, or involved any other factors. Investigators are collecting evidence and recording statements to clarify the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
University administration officials shared that Fareeha belonged to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and had been living in the hostel. Initial information from hospital sources suggested she may have been walking on the third-floor hostel premises when she reportedly felt dizzy and fell.
Medical staff stated that she sustained critical brain injuries in the fall and could not survive despite treatment efforts.
Sources close to the family revealed that Fareeha had previously lived in Lahore with her father before he retired and moved back to Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It was also reported that she had been facing emotional distress following her family’s relocation
