The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting snowfall and rain across several parts of the country from January 31 to February 3. Citizens are advised to prepare for rapidly changing weather conditions.
According to the PMD, northern Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir are likely to experience snowfall, while other northern regions may see rainfall during this period. The higher-altitude areas are expected to receive heavier snow.
From January 31 to February 3, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir will witness intermittent snowfall in upper regions. Islamabad, Murree, the Potohar region, Punjab, and the Galiyat are also expected to receive rain and light snow between February 1 and February 3.
The department has warned that temperatures will drop noticeably due to the incoming weather system. Mountainous areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir may also face a risk of landslides and other weather-related hazards.
Authorities have urged residents and travelers to take necessary precautions. Roads in hilly and snow-prone areas may become slippery, and local administrations are advised to implement safety measures.
This spell of snowfall and rain is likely to bring relief to some drought-affected regions. However, it could also cause disruptions in transport and outdoor activities. Citizens are encouraged to follow regular updates from the PMD.
The upcoming weather is expected to combine wet and cold conditions across northern Pakistan. Residents are advised to plan carefully, especially in high-altitude and vulnerable areas, to ensure safety during the snowfall season.
