Pakistan has officially approved its Hajj 2026 policy in accordance with the framework and instructions issued by Saudi authorities, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has confirmed. The announcement was made during an interview on Radio Pakistan’s News and Current Affairs podcast, where the minister shared key details about preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage.
According to Yousaf, Pakistan has been allotted a total Hajj 2026 quota of 179,210 pilgrims. Of this number, nearly 120,000 individuals will perform Hajj under the government-managed scheme, while approximately 60,000 pilgrims will travel through private Hajj operators. He said the distribution aims to ensure transparency, efficiency, and better facilitation for pilgrims.
The minister further stated that nationwide preparations are already underway, with mandatory Hajj training sessions being conducted across various districts. These training programs are designed to educate pilgrims about Hajj rituals, travel procedures, health guidelines, and safety measures to ensure a smooth and organized pilgrimage experience.
Highlighting travel facilitation, Yousaf revealed that around 38,000 pilgrims will depart from Islamabad under the Road to Makkah initiative. This project enables pilgrims to complete Saudi immigration formalities within Pakistan before departure, significantly reducing waiting times upon arrival. At present, the facility is operational in Islamabad and Karachi, while efforts are being made to extend the service to Lahore in the near future.
Speaking on interfaith harmony, the minister emphasized that the Ministry of Religious Affairs plays an active role in promoting unity among all religious communities. He reiterated that Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees equal rights to minorities and said the government provides scholarships, financial aid, and funds for the restoration of worship places. Minority communities also benefit from reserved job quotas and parliamentary representation.
Additionally, Yousaf announced the launch of a centralized system by the ministry to better manage Hajj 2026 pilgrimages by Zaireen traveling to holy sites in Iran and Iraq, further streamlining religious travel arrangements.
