Allama Iqbal Open University has announced the complete digitization of its degree, diploma, and certificate issuance process, marking a significant shift toward paperless administration. The move is aimed at modernizing academic services and improving efficiency for students across Pakistan.
Under the new system, students admitted from Fall 2024 onward will automatically receive their degrees and certificates after completing their academic requirements. The university has removed the need for submitting separate manual applications, a step that is expected to reduce delays and procedural hurdles.
The digitization initiative has also been extended to students admitted from Spring 2021 onward who have successfully completed their programs. These students can now submit their degree or certificate requests online through the university’s CMS portal using the newly introduced digital degree form.
According to university officials, the new online process replaces the earlier paper-based application system, which often caused delays due to documentation issues and manual verification. The CMS portal allows students to track their requests, improving transparency and communication.
However, AIOU clarified that students admitted in Fall 2020 or earlier will continue to receive their degrees and certificates through the existing procedures. Officials said this phased approach was adopted to ensure a smooth transition without disrupting older academic records.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said the digitization drive reflects the university’s commitment to student convenience and administrative reform. He added that the initiative will save time, reduce paperwork, and allow graduates to obtain official academic documents more efficiently.
