The Balochistan government has announced a fresh recruitment drive to address an acute shortage of subject specialists in public schools.
The initiative is being launched under the provincial administration’s Academic Excellence Programme to improve classroom learning.
Education Secretary Asfandyar Khan Kakar said the hiring plan aims to fill critical gaps in key academic subjects.
He noted that schools across the province are struggling to recruit teachers for English, Mathematics, and Science.
According to the education department, government schools are currently facing a severe 70 to 80 percent shortage.
This shortage has significantly affected learning outcomes and limited students’ access to quality subject instruction.
To tackle the issue, the provincial government has prepared a summary seeking approval for new appointments.
The plan proposes the recruitment of 4,000 teachers on an ad hoc basis across different districts.
Kakar said the appointments will be made in Grade 17 under a temporary arrangement.
Officials believe this step will immediately strengthen teaching capacity in government-run schools.
The education secretary added that the government has already taken steps to revive the education system.
Thousands of non-functional schools were recently reactivated after remaining closed due to staff shortages.
He said many schools had also suffered due to chronic absenteeism among teaching staff.
The new recruitment drive is expected to stabilize academic activities and restore confidence in public education.
Officials say improving subject availability is essential for long-term educational reform in Balochistan.
They believe qualified teachers will help raise academic standards and student performance.
The provincial government views the hiring initiative as part of a broader education reform agenda.
Authorities say further measures are also under consideration to ensure sustainability and accountability.
