80% of Women in Lahore Failed Their Driving Test

In response to the Punjab government’s crackdown on unlicensed drivers, a remarkable 63,000 women swiftly applied for learning permits in Lahore district within just 11 days.

Despite this surge in female drivers, the anticipated ease of navigating Lahore roads has turned into a challenging endeavor, as an astonishing 80 percent of them fell short in their driving tests.

While female drivers diligently complete tasks such as fingerprints and computerized sign tests, challenges arise during practical aspects like reversing a car, resulting in a meager 20 percent passing rate for the driving test.

Rana Imran, overseeing the sector, has highlighted the feedback received from women pursuing licenses, emphasizing the urgent need for further improvements in the existing system.

With a persistent demand for licenses among women, there is a growing consensus advocating for continuous enhancements to the licensing process. This call for improvements aims to better address the distinctive needs and challenges faced by female drivers, ensuring a more supportive and effective system.

It’s important to note that the Punjab government initiated the crackdown against drivers without proper licenses following the DHA incident in Lahore. In that incident, a 14-year-old, in an act of revenge, crashed his vehicle into another, leading to the tragic death of six family members.
