The 774th annual Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (RA) has started in Sehwan Sharif, Sindh. The three-day festival is being attended by millions of devotees from all over Pakistan, including Punjab.
Sindh Governor Kamran Tesori will inaugurate the celebrations by visiting the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. Streets of Sehwan are filled with chants of “Damadam Mast Qalandar,” as devotees show their devotion through prayers, chadars, and dhamals.
Authorities have set up water fountains and medical camps across Sehwan to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors. Traditional Sindhi cultural competitions, including Malh Malakhare, are scheduled for this evening.
A grand programme, Sangharan Ji Kachhari, will take place at the Shahbaz Auditorium Hall at night. These events celebrate the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of Sindh, attracting devotees and tourists alike.
Security arrangements are strict to manage the large crowds. About 6,000 police officers and 300 Rangers personnel have been deployed. The shrine and the city are under continuous surveillance through CCTV and drone cameras.
The Urs of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is one of Pakistan’s most significant spiritual events. Devotees from different provinces gather to seek blessings and participate in the dhamal rituals. The festival combines faith, devotion, and cultural tradition in a unique way.
Officials have urged visitors to cooperate with security staff and follow guidelines during the celebrations. The Urs will continue for three days, with various cultural and spiritual events planned throughout.
