Pakistan Finalizes 5G Spectrum Auction Framework, Launch Expected by June 2025
The federal government has officially finalized the framework for the auction of 5G technology spectrum, with the official 5G launch expected to take place across Pakistan by June 2025. According to documents, the Ministry of IT has developed a comprehensive roadmap for the rollout of 5G technology, and the spectrum auction process is set to begin next month.

The auction will take place in five phases, with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) consulting advisory committees and experts to ensure that recommendations are considered. In Phase 2, the Advisory Committee will finalize policy reforms, determining the pricing for the 5G spectrum and setting commercial terms by March. By April, the federal government will approve the policy directives, and by May 2025, the PTA will auction the spectrum.
The PTA will auction four spectrum bands for 5G services: 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz bands. However, experts have raised concerns that Pakistan’s infrastructure might not be fully ready for the widespread deployment of 5G technology in the next two years.
