A resale shop in La Puente, Los Angeles, was hit by burglars early Wednesday morning. The thieves stole boxes of Labubu Dolls, a popular collectible toy that has gained fame on TikTok.
The suspects broke through the front door of One Stop Sales and took only Labubu Dolls. Other items in the store were left untouched.
Co-owner Joanna Avendano said the stolen Labubu Dolls could be worth about $30,000 or more. The store had just announced a Labubu Dolls restock on social media days before the robbery.
Avendano suspects the burglars were watching the store’s online posts to plan the break-in. She also reported a suspicious vehicle parked outside the shop the night before.
Police responded to the burglary at around 1:30 a.m. The thieves fled in a Toyota Tacoma, which was later found abandoned. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
Labubu Dolls are made by Pop Mart and have become highly sought after worldwide. Many celebrities, including Rihanna and K-pop star Lisa, have been seen with these toys.
While Labubu Dolls typically sell for about $500, rare versions can resell online for thousands. This high demand has also led to a rise in counterfeit Labubu Dolls.
The La Puente shop, which opened just two months ago, is now dealing with a significant loss. Fans of Labubu Dolls continue to search for these rare toys, both legally and on the resale market.
