13 Policemen Injured in Clashes with Transporters During Protests

A protest sit-in by the All Sindh Transport Association in Hyderabad against the imposition of additional toll taxes turned violent, leading to clashes between protesters and police.

The altercation began when protesters, wielding stones and sticks, resisted the police’s efforts to manage the situation. This clash resulted in injuries to 13 police officers, according to local authorities. The conflict intensified as the police used aerial firing and tear gas to disperse the unruly crowd.

The senior superintendent of police (SSP) reported that violence erupted when protesters attacked the police, who had approached them for negotiations. The confrontation left more than 10 officials injured, including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and four station house officers (SHOs). Authorities are currently investigating the incident, aiming to address the protesters’ grievances while ensuring law and order is maintained.
