KARACHI: Violent protests erupted in Karachi after a motorcyclist was killed by heavy traffic in North Karachi, resulting in at least 11 dumpers and tankers being set on fire.
The incident occurred after a speeding dumper truck collided with a motorcyclist in the Nagan Chowrangi area. As a result, protesters set fire to 11 heavy vehicles, including trucks and dumpers, in various Karachi locations.

The injured motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Daniyal, is being treated at a local hospital.
Protesters set five dumpers on fire near the North Karachi Power House, while three water tankers and an ice truck were torched at Madiha Stop. Another water tanker was burned in Surjani Town near Baba Mor. Upon receiving reports, a large police force responded, and the fire brigade extinguished the flames and removed the burnt vehicles.
In a related development, DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah discussed digital monitoring of heavy vehicles to reduce accidents. He announced the installation of front and rear cameras in dumpers to identify fault in accidents, alongside the installation of trackers to monitor dumper movements across Karachi.
