Wasim Akram Mocks Indian T20 World Cup Squad

With the conclusion of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram humorously remarked that the Indian cricket team won’t have the fatigue excuse for the upcoming major tournament. The IPL final between KKR and SRH lacked Indian players heading to the T20 World Cup in the United States and West Indies, except for Rinku Singh from KKR, who serves as a reserve.

Speaking to a sports platform, Akram quipped, “This time, Indian players won’t have the tiredness excuse during the big event.” He suggested that the Indian players were prudent in focusing on the World Cup rather than the IPL final, which could be advantageous for India.

Previously concerned about player fatigue, Akram now believes they’ll cope well due to their superior fitness levels. He mentioned the upcoming practice matches in America and the T20 format, which should aid recovery.

The first batch of Indian players, including captain Rohit Sharma, who didn’t participate in the IPL playoffs, departed for the USA. Among them were Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dube, Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, and Shubman Gill.
