Numerous prominent political figures, such as PTI founder Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, are currently detained in Adiala Jail on various charges.Following a comprehensive search of the jail premises and its vicinity, authorities decided to enact the ban on prisoner meetings. The restriction will be effective until May 15, as confirmed by officials.

To enhance security measures within the jail, the Inspector General of Prisons has issued directives for tighter security protocols.Furthermore, emergency drills are being conducted by the jail administration to prepare for any potential adverse circumstances. The ban is aimed at averting potential security risks and ensuring orderliness within the jail premises.

Earlier in March this year, the Punjab home department had enforced a visitation ban in Adiala Jail due to security concerns.

The Punjab government clarified that the restrictions imposed at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail were not intended to obstruct PTI leaders’ meetings with Imran Khan.

Punjab’s Information Minister Azma Bukhari emphasized that the decision was made in response to a serious security threat alert, which is currently under investigation.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
