IHC Directive Mandates Shifting Bushra Bibi From Bani Gala To Adiyala Jail

The Islamabad High Court has instructed authorities to relocate Bushra Bibi from Bani Gala to Adiala Jail.

This directive comes in response to Bushra Bibi’s plea seeking a transfer from Bani Gala sub-jail to Adiala Jail. Additionally, the court invalidated the notification designating Bani Gala as a sub-jail. Last week, the Islamabad High Court reserved its decision on Bushra Bibi’s request for relocation to Adiala Jail from the Bani Gala sub-jail.

Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb expressed skepticism, suggesting that the decision to relocate Bushra Bibi to Bani Gala may have been predetermined. He questioned the conversion of a prisoner’s property into a sub-jail without their consent.

In her petition, Bushra Bibi cited safety concerns and requested the court to transfer her due to feeling unsafe while confined alone in the sub-jail.

Both Bushra and Imran Khan were sentenced to 14 years in jail by Judge Muhammad Bashir of the accountability court in connection with a case involving the illegal sale of state gifts from Toshakhana.

During the trial, Imran Khan contended that his wife was not implicated in the case and was unjustly accused.
