Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced an eight-hour gas suspension in several parts of Peshawar due to maintenance work on a main pipeline near Zakori Flyover on GT Road.
According to the company’s notice, gas supply will remain suspended from 9 PM on Tuesday, October 20, until 5 AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The temporary shutdown is required to relocate the main gas pipeline in the area.
The work is expected to affect households, businesses and other consumers in several localities across the city. Residents have been advised to prepare for the overnight interruption and arrange their household activities accordingly.
Areas Affected by Gas Suspension
The scheduled gas shutdown will affect the following areas of Peshawar:
- Peshawar Cantonment
- Lady Reading Hospital (LRH)
- Nauthia
- Gulberg
- Charsadda Road
- Pajaggi Road
- Surrounding neighbourhoods
Consumers in these areas may experience a complete interruption in gas supply during the announced maintenance period.
Why Is Gas Supply Being Suspended?
SNGPL said the suspension is necessary to carry out work on the main gas pipeline at Zakori Flyover on GT Road. The pipeline is being relocated as part of the work, requiring a temporary shutdown to allow the operation to proceed.
The company has scheduled the work overnight to manage the disruption during a specific period. However, consumers should follow official updates in case the schedule changes.
Safety Instructions for Consumers
SNGPL has advised residents in the affected areas to make alternative arrangements before the suspension begins. Households should plan cooking and other activities that depend on gas ahead of the scheduled shutdown.
The company has also instructed consumers to keep their gas appliances switched off throughout the suspension. This precaution is important because gas appliances left open could create a safety risk when the supply resumes.
Residents should check that their stoves and other gas appliances are turned off before leaving them unattended. Consumers should also follow any additional safety instructions issued by the gas utility.
When Will Gas Supply Resume?
According to the announced schedule, gas supply is expected to resume at 5 AM on Wednesday, October 21, after the eight-hour maintenance period ends.
The shutdown is temporary, but the actual restoration of supply may depend on the completion of pipeline work. Consumers should stay informed through official SNGPL announcements for any changes to the schedule.
Residents in the affected localities are advised to complete essential cooking and household tasks before 9 PM on Tuesday to avoid inconvenience during the overnight gas suspension.
