Gas supply will be temporarily suspended in several parts of Rawalpindi city and cantonment on Saturday night due to pipeline work connected to the construction of the Peshawar Road underpass.
According to a spokesperson for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), the shutdown is necessary to connect a section of the main gas pipeline. The work is linked to the ongoing underpass construction project on Peshawar Road.
The temporary suspension is scheduled to begin at 8:30pm on October 17 and continue until 6am on October 18. Consumers in the affected localities may face a disruption in gas supply during this period.
Which Areas of Rawalpindi Will Be Affected?
Several major roads and nearby residential areas will experience the temporary gas shutdown. According to the announced schedule, the affected locations include both sides of Murree Road, from Saddar to Faizabad.
Gas supply will also be suspended along Peshawar Road, between Golra Mor and Saddar. Areas along Adiala Road and GT Road are also included in the shutdown.
Other affected localities include Qasim Market, Westridge and neighbourhoods situated along Peshawar Road.
Residents living in these areas have been advised to prepare for the temporary interruption and make alternative arrangements for cooking and other household needs.
Why Is Gas Supply Being Suspended?
The shutdown is required to carry out pipeline connection work associated with the Peshawar Road underpass project. The construction work requires a section of the main gas pipeline to be connected as part of the ongoing development activities.
Such work may require a temporary suspension of supply to allow the necessary pipeline operations to be completed.
SNGPL has announced the shutdown schedule to inform consumers in advance and help them prepare for the interruption.
When Will Gas Supply Resume?
According to SNGPL’s announced schedule, gas supply is expected to resume at 6am on Sunday, October 18.
The restoration time is subject to the completion of the scheduled work. Consumers should remain prepared for the possibility that supply may take time to stabilise after the pipeline connection is completed.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to plan their household activities accordingly and follow any further updates issued by SNGPL.
The temporary shutdown is part of the work being carried out alongside the Peshawar Road underpass construction. Consumers outside the listed areas should check official announcements if they experience an unexpected interruption in supply.
