PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif have held consultations over the selection of the new prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The important meeting was held at Jati Umra under the chairmanship of Nawaz Sharif, with Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz also attending.
According to sources, the meeting focused primarily on the upcoming selection of the new AJK prime minister, while several potential candidates were discussed during the consultation.
Shah Ghulam Qadir, Tariq Farooq Considered
Sources said Shah Ghulam Qadir and Tariq Farooq are among the leading names being considered for the top government position in Azad Kashmir.
Either of the two PML-N leaders could potentially be nominated as the new prime minister, with the final decision expected after further consultations within the party leadership.
The selection comes at an important time for the PML-N as it works on forming its government in Azad Jammu and Kashmir following the recent political developments in the region.
PML-N Leadership Reviews Political Situation
The meeting also included discussions on the broader political situation in the country and other important matters concerning the party.
The PML-N leadership is currently facing key decisions regarding the formation of the AJK government and the selection of its leadership.
Sources said the final name for the AJK prime minister is expected to be announced soon once consultations among senior party leaders are completed.
The decision will determine who takes charge of the AJK government as the PML-N moves forward with the next phase of its political and administrative plans in the region.
